Role of Long Haul Travel Consultant:

  • Respond to inbound calls and email enquiries
  • Design and arrange detailed, bespoke itineraries, offering the most appropriate flights, accommodation and excursions to match the clients' brief
  • Demonstrate solid long haul product knowledge, able to offer advice and recommendations to agents
  • Keep up to date with industry events and news which may affect the travel sector
  • Work to individual and team sales targets and KPIs

Skills required for the role:

  • Previous, recent travel sales experience
  • Long haul destination and product knowledge
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Confident, friendly and professional telephone manner
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Ideally, personally well-travelled
  • Experience with a GDS and/or scheduled airlines would be an advantage but isn’t essential.

I took a 7 year hiatus from the Travel industry to develop my skills in a completely different role. Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt end through to insolvency and it knocked me sideways as I was climbing the career ladder.
