We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for a detail driven, Operations Assistant to join the team of a market leading International brand, based in Manchester. Initially working from home, the successful candidate will join a very friendly and highly professional team and will have the opportunity to really put their own stamp on this newly created role.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, they’ll be responsible for assisting with both logistics and key accounts and previous experience within, or exposure to a shipping/freight forwarding environment is essential for the position, along with a good understanding of incoterms, the creation of customs paperwork, strong administration experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. In return, our client can offer a highly competitive salary of up to £25k plus benefits, 35.5 hour working week with an early finish of 2.30pm on Fridays and on site parking. Role of Operations Assistant:
- Raise invoices for goods coming into the UK from China and other Worldwide destinations
- Working with import/export shipping lines
- Liaising with the Key Accounts team and dealing with requests for Worldwide freight quotes
- Generating paperwork for clients and adding orders onto the portal
- Creating customs paperwork
- Quality control of packing lists
- Booking stock in against purchase order, ensuring delivery quantities are correct and highlighting any errors
- Other ad hoc responsibilities, including on going project work
Skills required for the role:
- Previous experience within/exposure to a shipping/freight environment
- Understanding of incoterms, freight forwarders and customs paperwork
- Familiar with current WTO rules/Brexit legislation would be an advantage
- Excellent communication and administration skills
- Pro-active and creative approach
- Ability to think outside the box and work with autonomy
- Detail driven and an analytical thinker
- Willingness to be flexible whilst working in a fast-paced environment
