We're looking for a passionate and commercially minded River Cruise Commercial & Trading Executive to take ownership of our multiple award-winning client’s growing river cruise offering. This is an exciting role for someone who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, negotiating exclusive deals, and driving commercial performance.

You'll work directly with river cruise line partners to develop growth strategies, create compelling products and packages, and increase brand visibility. Combining commercial trading, marketing planning, and supplier management, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client’s river cruise business.

Working closely with the Product Operations team, you'll help shape commercial strategies, develop exclusive offers, and create impactful marketing campaigns that drive growth across our client's river cruise portfolio. As the supplier-facing ambassadors of the brand, the team represents the business at industry events, meetings, and key trade partnerships.

Previous experience in a similar commercial role within the river cruise / cruise sector is required for the role, along with strong negotiation and relationship building skills.

In return our client can offer a highly competitive salary, plus bonus & excellent benefits. This is a Monday – Friday role and will be largely remote, with regular visits to head office based in Redditch, so willingness to do this is essential.

Role of River Cruise Commercial & Trading Executive:

Be the face for river cruising for the business
Develop a focused strategy and marketing plans for the luxury cruise lines and execute them on time
Measuring marketing activity performance in line with executed plans and sales performance
Develop and follow a regular contact strategy with cruise lines
Identify and develop new opportunities for the business
Be aware and communicate all campaign and launch plans to the business
Coordinate weekly trading calls, monthly meeting and be aware of & act on market rate movements
Be aware of how brands are being represented across all platforms
Negotiate and circulate retail and nett rates for package product
Select the best deals from the brands that you look after to go into marketing activity
Communicating clearly through email and direct mail briefs to the Product Operations team
Signing off marketing activity
Keeping up to date reporting for your brands including weekly, monthly and yearly figures
Identifying new growth areas
Tracking targeted and override numbers and recommending actions to achieve these
Own the River cruising event strategy from conception to execution

Skills required for the role:

Previous experience in the river cruise / cruise market
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities
A proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and deliver results
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confidence working across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

I contacted Succeed after seeing a vacancy that was of interest.

Cheryl picked up my CV on the Monday morning and called me first thing, after a brief chat about some of the opportunities available we decided to send of a couple of applications.

Cheryl then contacted me again on Tuesday with another vacancy (that don’t come up very often) that ticked all the boxes, by afternoon had secured an interview for me on the Thursday. The following Tuesday Cheryl calls with a job offer. One week from start to finish!

Cheryl has been amazing throughout the entire process, with regular communication even after the job was complete. I took a 7 year hiatus from the Travel industry to develop my skills in a completely different role. Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt end through to insolvency and it knocked me sideways as I was climbing the career ladder.

Decided to explore the option of getting back into the travel industry as I’ve got 17 years of specialist experience within the luxury tailored holidays and cruise sectors. My concern was how employers would respond from being mid level management to wanting to be back on the front line consulting. Cheryl made the journey enjoyable and presented 2 fantastic companies that both gave me the offers.

She guided me with interview techniques as usually it’s been word of mouth and recommendation for me in the past. Very efficient with guidance notes and following up for feedback after each interview. She actually made the process effortless.

Working with Rachel the director was a pleasure, almost felt like we knew each other from a different life. Very approachable.

From the 7th October I’ve done a full U-Turn and heading back to the industry that I’ve always been passionate about thanks to the Lovely Cheryl Webb and Rachel Wigley.

I cannot recommend Succeed Recruitment and especially Rachel enough. I applied for a job and the service and advice was excellent. She’s a credit to the role and the industry. Informative, helpful, professional…we could be here all day!

Despite being out of the industry for 4 years (thanks to COVID) we talked this through and she felt I was a strong candidate for the role.
